Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and it’s time to figure out your strategy. How can you help your target customer celebrate the holiday? If you are a restaurant with a vibe that screams romance – you’re going after couples wanting a romantic dinner. Women’s retailer with high-end merchandise? Single ladies that want to treat themselves might be your focus. Personal services are great for gifting – especially by men at a loss for what to buy for their boo. Figure out how to tailor your offerings to key customer groups and then make a plan to attract and convert them, whether that’s in-person or virtually. 

Hospitality

Put together some romantic dinner packages paired with alcoholic beverages that you can offer for dine-in or to-go. Design couples activity packages – a virtual wine tasting, a cocktail mixing class, or a cook-at-home meal kit. Create a Spotify playlist to help your customers set the mood at home! You can also consider partnering with non-competing businesses to design a bundle! Dinner and hotel stay, massage and wine tasting. 

Not a traditional Valentine’s Day spot? Work with a dating site or matchmaker to host a singles mixer (in-person or remotely), or have an anti-Valentine’s day celebration with nary a rose or chocolate in sight. 

Retail

Create Valentine’s Day themed displays with relevant merchandise that look great on social. Put together pre-wrapped baskets or packages that are easy to pick-up, ship, and gift – no muss, no fuss. Think about non-romantic customers as well: singles who want to treat themselves, non-traditional recipients (sisters, mothers, BFFs, etc). Engage influencers to help promote your offerings. Publish a gift guide with different ideas from your business organized by the recipient (romantic partner, BFF, dog mom, mom that needs a break, etc). 

Personal Services

Promote BOGO couples procedures or offer customizable services bundles for a personalized experience!  Turn gift certificates into a gift basket with bonus products and extra enhancements to make them feel more special (and less of an afterthought). Make sure you evaluate your advertising strategy – a targeted click-to-purchase now ad on a site with heavy male traffic can drive serious conversion!

For non-romantic clients, consider hosting a singles botox party or a BFF mani/pedi party. Take private reservations for small groups and add fun touches to make them feel special!
